Tristan Taylor/Honda Hiroto is Joey's best friend. They have been friends for a long time. He is a good student and doesn't really know how to play duel monsters but that doesn't matter to him.
Tristan cares a lot about Joey, but they show it in weird ways like fighting. Tristan will always be there for his friends when they need him, like when he snuck onto the ship to the duelist kingdom when he wasn't allowed.
